I resent that. I have never been in a PuG that failed to complete it's objective.
Possibly because I play in a different time zone after all the crazy idiots have quit.

But anyway, Factions is your friend for LS. It's going to get me to R1 before I quit, since I can't be bothered going for R3

Play the game properly, or just don't go for the title, also quests and missions give a lot of exp and are more fun than farming.
If you want a title that means you can farm go get the Unidentified golds =P
Bring good enough self defense so if something goes wrong you can bail out if your henching in time to log out/resign.
Ummm...the only way to bail out of a bad situation effectively is to teleport to your GH. Logging out has been proven to be ineffective and typing /resign is inefficient and you'll probably die while doing it.

Ranger WAS the best for survivor for the margonite farm, you never got in aggro, was hard mode, with lightbringer scrolls only took around 20 times of farming it to get the max legendary title, now that splinter is nerfed though it does not work anymore, but my ranger has the title from that =)

Well, I know this is a little old, and the OP is probably done with it, but other people may read it looking for info. Here is my advice, having doner Legendary Survivor with no power leveling, 1 mission run, and no map travel/log offs.

1) Get Superior Vigor and any Vitae runes you can. Only use Minor runes, so as not to lower your health. Monster AI uses 2 things to choose a target, Armor and Health. If you get max armor as soon as you can, health becomes your only variable. Survivor Insignias can work, but I would recommend armor boosting Insignias first. If you run enchantments, get Blessed, etc. Armor is the main thing to determine what the enemies will attack.

2) If using hero/hench, call targets. Control+Alt+Space will call a target without actually attacking it. This will make the heros/hench run in to attack first, allowing you to stay in a safe spot.

3) Take and use a good self heal, condition/hex removal. Try to never have to use it, which means you aren't getting attacked. But if you do get attacked, make sure you can heal yourself incase the Monks are low on energy or not fast enough.

4) Be prepared to run. If a fight looks bad, RUN. You can always come back, rez anyone that didn't make it, and try again. Do not try to stay alive during a tough fight, leave a tough fight. Rebirth or Sunspear Rebirth Signet are your best options for this.

5) Skill cap as much as you can afford. Some bosses can be deadly to entire groups, but not many. Each elite will give a lvl 20 character 5000 XP. Switch secondaries and work on Legendary Skill Hunter to get a lot of easy XP.

6) Do bonus/Masters on missions. This gives you more skill points for skill capping, and more XP. It also helps with Protector titles, so get bonus or Masters when you can.

7) Do every quest you can find. Quests will give you XP, money, skills, items, and occassionally new cities. Use this to fund other expendatures (insignias, runes, consumables, etc.).

8) If you have GW:EN, use the consumables. If not, buy them from someone who does. Extra armor, health regen, attribute boosts, etc. make a big impact. I didn't have those things available when I did my Survivor, but they would have made things much easier.

9) Ask guildies to help on difficult missions/quests/skill caps. Heroes/hench can work. I did 90% with h/h. But having real people who know how to play are much nicer for some areas.

10) Watch your ping/fps. If it goes from green to orange, stop what you are doing, and wait for it to return to green. If it goes red, either map out of the zone, or wait til it goes green. Do not try to fight with an orange or red status.

11) Have fun.

U see than u dont wanna use FFF but i think because u need 2 run and u die then... but if u gonna dooring it go fast i did that 2 with my monk thats the best way to get it but if u dont want it just use scrolls they say it b4 but thats the best. i say NO FARMING coz... the chance that u die is maybe low but u can die... No fff=Use Scrolls

I hope u reach Legendary Survivor.

Actually you can do HFFF without dieing to get LS or even FFF if you are the door man. Its the best way of doing it in my book as you also earn faction points towards your title at the same time.

Small correction: CTRL + SHIFT + attack = calling a target without you actually attacking. (And the attack can be hitting the spacebar or one of your skills as long as the skill is an attack.) Also, you need your aggro circle to be fairly close to the target for your hero/hench to start attacking.

I currently have 1 LS (Dervish), a couple of r1 survivors and 1 of them (Assassin) is going for her LS as well. I think pretty much all of the important tips on "how to prevent your character from dying" have already been mentioned above, so I'm not going to repeat them all again.

To just about sum it up I've found that just about THE most important thing is experience playing the game. Experience determines your ability to judge situations, how to lure mobs, when to perform a tactical retreat, how to manage your heroes and henchmen, what builds to use on heroes to minimize the likelihood of a wipe...and the list goes on and on. Previous experience with the class you are trying to get to LS certainly helps but is not a must, more important is your ability to adapt as well as judge and tweak your build as you go along (as I did on my Dervish, which I had never played before).

In general playing through a campaign if you know what you're doing with H&H is pretty safe. The greatest danger comes from being laggy or tired, or sometimes both, in which case you should stop playing immediately! I almost lost survivor on Assa very early on when I ran out of the outpost to do a quest and it took me a full 10 secs to realize I forgot the hench! By the time I managed to break aggro from the group of enemies, I was down to 1hp
I figured by then it was time for bed...

As for the note on "never ever trust human players" I think this is a little over the top. True, you shouldn't just trust anyone, not even guildies or average friends, but you don't necessarily need to become a hermit. It's ok to trust those you know are really good players who respect your goal and will actually take the blows for you if necessary. On my Dervish I was simply adamant not to let my title progress keep me from getting all Avatars, so I had to kill Balthazar's Acolyte as well. This is where a good friend's help was invaluable to me. With just H&H I would have been toast.

Also an important thing I think a lot of people forget in their pursuit of titles is to enjoy it and be worthy of it. What's the achievement of gaining LS by farming (killing the same simple enemy over and over again) or even worse, having others do all the work for you (FFF)? I just don't understand how people can still consider this an actual achievement (other than coercing others to do stuff for you perhaps, but then doesn't that fall under the title of "Legendary Dominator"?). The sad downside of it is when this makes some people automatically assume that that's how everyone with LS must have done it. Still in the end you can't tell the difference between one or the other, except in the player's sense of personal achievement
